Birkenstock Express began with Footwise, a small store in Corvallis, Oregon. We later added a store in Eugene, Oregon. When customers visiting from out of town kept asking us to bring our store to their town, we started Birkenstock Express, our mail order service. In the spring of 2003 we opened a new store in East Portland, Oregon, and in 2004 we bought a second store in West Portland.
