How to Tell if the Shoe Fits
When a Birkenstock fits correctly, your heel is resting completely within the heelcup and your foot fits inside of the edges of the shoe
with just enough extra length (up to ΒΌ") for movement while walking. When you stand, the contours of the footbed, including the arch and toe bar, should
follow the contours of your feet.
The strap closest to your toes should be snug. The other straps should be a little loose to allow your heel to lift slightly off the footbed while walking. While
consistent in footbed design, Birkenstock upper styles vary in their adjustability and suitability for certain types of feet.
You may find that some styles are better suited than others to your feet.
See Choosing the Right Footbed for details.
Of course, we can help you with any questions you may have about fitting the
different styles.
Send email to us with your questions.
Determining Your Birkenstock Size
If you know your American size, go to the
Fitting Room
for a quick and easy way to determine your Birkenstock size. If you would like to send us foot
tracings to help you determine your size, use the following instructions:
- Place a blank sheet of paper on the floor and stand with your weight equally on both feet. We like to see the entire outline of each foot.
- Have someone else trace around both feet with a pen or pencil held straight up and down (yes, it sometimes tickles!).
- Send the tracings to us with a note that includes your American size and width.
Mail to:
Birkenstock Express
301 SW Madison Avenue
Corvallis, OR 97333
Or fax to: 541-752-6313
NOTE: Faxes sometimes print out smaller or larger than your original. To help us determine whether your faxed tracing is still life-size, place a ruler somewhere along the length of the paper and transfer each of the inch marks to the paper. We will re-measure your inch marks and adjust the fax accordingly.
